Recently took our green land rover for a trial run after it's new conversion. Me (Caitlin), my mother and my grandmother headed off on a camping trip. The plan was to show them Glencoe, go shopping in Fort William and then back through Glencoe. Instead on the last day we headed down to Oban for more shopping and sightseeing!
We stayed both nights in Bunree Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite, on the shores of Loch Linnhe. What a beautiful campsite, every pitch had views of the loch and mountains beyond. It was wonderfully well kept and everyone staying there was lovely and chatty. The best part, they even accept non club members.
The weather was beautiful, we got very lucky - at some points we complained that it was too hot! We ended up doing the viral chocolate bar hack, lay a chocolate bar out in the sun to let it melt fully then dip fruit in it. To speed up the process, I laid the chocolate bar on the hot landy bonnet - this is something you need to try.
The next day we spent the day in Fort William shopping - there were plenty of lovely shops to keep us happy and more importantly there was a delicious place for lunch. You must try The Hot Roast Company Ltd. We had turkey and cranberry rolls, so amazing.
Spent the evening reading in the land rover as the wind had picked up, and it was comfy for three people. The next day we decided to head down to Oban, and stopped at Argyll Pottery on the way. A lovely selection of handmade pottery, we each bought a couple of things!
Oban had some good shopping and good ice cream, and if we had room it has the 3rd best fish and chip shop in the UK! I will need to go back and try that out. All in all, everyone had fun, we were all comfortable and the land rover conversion definitely works for 3 people.
